When I was growing up on the California
side of Lake Havasu, what we considered the
“summer season” began at Easter, rocked at Memorial Day, peaked at July
4th and wound down on Labor Day. In those days, there was no
such thing as Spring Break. There was Easter week, which was actually a
two week span for those of us in the resort business. Schools either had
their spring time vacation a week before Easter, or the week after.
These days we have spring break, which spans some six weeks or so.
Traditional summer vacation is also not as it once was, now many schools
have year round school.
Labor Day
may be the traditional last hoopla of summer, yet most Havasuians know
that October can provide some awesome waterskiing. But, if you are
planning to make your way on the lake this Labor Day weekend, please
play it safe. Remember, drinking can be as lethal behind the steering
wheel of a boat, as behind a car’s. Have fun, yet exercise caution and
always keep an eye out for the “other guy”, who may not be as clear
headed as you!
And for
those of you who may be heading to Havasu this Labor Day weekend to
check out real estate, Don and I will be working, so give us a call if
you need some assistance.
