Phonebook
Christmas Tree

This time of the year many people are looking for holiday related crafts, suitable for young hands. If you have out-of-date phonebooks, piling up around the house, consider the following project. It is an easy way for a youngster to transform an obsolete phone book into a Christmas tree centerpiece.

Materials Needed:
Phonebook, or any discarded paperback where the width of the book is close in measurement to the length. A wide book is essential.
Stapler
Spray paint (gold or any desired color)
White glue
Beads, buttons or any small shiny ornaments

Directions:
Begin by opening the phonebook to the first page. Take a hold of the upper right hand corner of the first page. Carefully fold the page over, on an angle, bringing the corner to the lower left-hand edge of the page, along the spine of the book. If the page is 10 inches wide, the corner will fall 10 inches down the left-hand side of the page.

The fold should be straight and creased neatly. Repeat with each page. When all pagers have been turned down in such a manner, bring the outside of the back cover and front cover together, and staple together, forming a "tree".

Spray the tree for the youngster and allow to dry. Then, using the white glue, the child can then decorate the outside of the paper tree.
