Shell Paper Weight

When the youngsters drag home a bucked of shells from the beach this summer, have them bring along a little sand so can they do the following project!

Materials Needed:
Shells
Sand
Empty margarine tub
Plaster of Paris
Water
Bucket

Directions:
1. Line the bottom of a clean margarine tub with sand.

2. Place shells into the sand. Lay the prettier sides of the shells face down, buried into the sand.

3. Mix water and plaster of Paris according to the instructions of the package.

4. Pour or spoon mixture of plaster into the tub, fill to the brim and level.

5. Let dry for several days

6. Gently remove from container and carefully dust excess sand from the paper weight.
